Treatment of hyperhidrosis

The term “hyperhidrosis” comes from the Latin “ὑπερ” (hyper), meaning “increased”, and “ἱδρώς” (hydro), corresponding to “water” or “sweat”. Doctors call increased or excessive sweating hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating in the armpits, palms and feet. Speaking about this disease, it is worth distinguishing between two conditions – general increased sweating and local increased sweating.

In most cases, patients are concerned about local hyperhidrosis. General or generalized sweating can be the result of a number of reasons (infections, endocrine, tumor diseases, etc.), therefore, its overcoming will require medical diagnosis and treatment.

Treatment of local hyperhidrosis is carried out intradermally, by injecting drugs based on botulinum toxin directly into the hyperhidrosis zone. The botulinum toxin preparation is the safest and most effective in the treatment of hyperhidrosis. It blocks the transmission of nerve impulses that stimulate sweating. Thus, the sweat gland is at rest and does not secrete sweat.
