What’s the safest way to get your ear pierced?
“I’ve always dreamed of getting my ear pierced. Friends express different opinions, heard a variety of arguments in favor of different ways of piercing the ear cartilage. Please advise which method of piercing is safer – with a needle or a gun? “
Zhanna Prikhodko, cosmetologist-dermatologist:
- Ear cartilage piercing can be done with both a needle and a gun. There is no significant difference. This procedure is mostly painless. If a professional gun for piercing, earrings are certified, the master uses the tool correctly and thoroughly disinfects the puncture, there should be no complications! In this case, the main thing is care after piercing.
If you want the morning at the puncture site to heal well and quickly, do not lie on the pillow with the side of your head from which the ear is punctured. Be sure to flush the wound with antibacterial solutions at least twice a day. The punctured cartilage should not be wetted in the first days after the procedure, it should not be injured or touched with dirty hands.
As with regular ear piercing, piercings should be done during the warmer months when no hats are worn. This way you protect yourself from complications.
If you have any injuries or cracks during piercing, immediately treat the puncture site with an antibacterial solution!
